A period of exploring and experimenting with mathematically-based artworks; projects emulating cybernetic interactions. Algorithmic operations, algorithmic transformations of forms already obtained or algorithmic operations requiring, on the fly, generative/fine art decisions from the artist in order to complete the process. Meta-Phorms, S-Bands. Hand painting remains an important part of his interest.

Other work from the period
1971--1979
Meta-Phorms
• Developing a body of works based on mathematical thinking.
First tentative experiments with digital technologies, 1971.
First Meta-Phorms. Experiments with generative processes which emulate cybernetic interactions. The work evolves as a series of straight algorithmic processes intertwined with operational decisions made on the fly. Subsequently the Meta-Phorm becomes the central focus of all of the artist’s painting.

Drawings
• 1971--1979 series. New algorithmic procedures rendered as paintings.
• 1971-1979. Studying nature and the masters in parallel with the decision to make mathematics the main subject of my painting.
