![]() ... In order to understand the results obtained by applying these rules and principles, let us consider the two paintings reproduced here: "Saadi the poet of Shiraz" and "Baaiba, a form achieved by mathematical procedures". The first has the grace of a Persian miniature, and the grill of geometrical lines in the background remains visible in oder to recall the scientific processes which created the image. The distance, which the picture assumes in relation to the rigidity often attributed to creation using mathematics in modern art is obtained by the pictorial style in which the geometrical elements have been painted, the free choice of colors ( even if they indicate the different stages in construction), and especially the freely elaborated compostition. Cybernetics bring in the morphological elements and surroundings, but the sintax, the phrase, remains free and suggests feeling. The other reproduction is more graphic, and the mysterious poetry suggested by the figure in the dark recalls certain Indian figures in a waiting attitude at night. Due to his sound scientific and philosophical training, his gift as a painter and his determination, Sherban Epuré is proeminent in the fields of research aiming to transpose technological invention into artistic creation"...
