• The Demarco Archives at the Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu, the 2007 European Cultural Capital.

The exhibition not only represents a fragment of local artistic history but also homage brought to a great friend of the local artists and the Romanian culture. Demarco was one of the first connoisseurs of contemporary art and gallery artists who ventured in Bucharest, visiting one by one the workshops of several Romanian artists, among which Pavel Ilie, Paul Neagu, Horia Bernea, Ion Bitzan, Ovidiu Maitec, Vladimir Setran, Radu Dragomirescu, Sherban Epure, Diet Sayler can be mentioned, initiating a series of international artistic events with the purpose of promoting and further developing Romanian art.

THE DEMARCO ARCHIVES represents a comprehensive collection regarding the activity over a period of 40 years of the Richard Demarco Gallery and later of the Demarco European Art Foundation, thus becoming an institution opened to the public. A series of works belonging to Romanian artists who displayed their works in the Demarco Gallery can be found in the archives, works which have a chance today to come to life again, even if temporary, and to be seen by the Romanian public but also by other guests of Sibiu European Capital of Culture in 2007.
